Sign up to review scholarship applications

PFund’s scholarships are one of our most popular programs. In 2023, we awarded a record $132,000+ to 54 queer students in or from the Upper Midwest. We rely on dozens of volunteers each year to read, rank, and review scholarship applications and make recommendations on scholarship awards to the PFund board. This fully-remote volunteering opportunity is a great way to give back the LGBTQ+ community.

We have all the volunteers we need for 2024 scholarship reviewers. We anticipate recruiting our next round of scholarship reviewers in early 2025 and will update this page when that happens. In the meantime, click here to learn more about how to become a scholarship reviewer and the expected time commitment.

Become a community grant reviewer

Unlike many other community foundations, the majority of grants awarded by PFund Foundation are done so via a community review process that draws on volunteers from the community with specialized expertise (i.e. for our grants for queer-owned small businesses, we prefer to have reviewers with experience in business or entrepreneurship). All grant review meetings are held virtually so this a fully-remote volunteer opportunity. Click here to learn more about becoming a community grant reviewer panelist.

Join PFund’s board of directors

PFund’s Board of Directors is a small but mighty group of queer folks and allies from across the Upper Midwest. PFund is currently accepting applications for new board members; click here to learn more and apply. We are especially interested in individuals from Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota becoming board members. All PFund board meetings are fully-remote; we encourage board members to attend in-person PFund events when possible throughout the year. Serve on a PFund committee

The PFund Foundation Board of Directors appoints both Board Members and community members to sit on various committees that support the development of the foundation. These committees enable the board to carry out thoughtful governance of the organization.
