Meet the PFund staff

  • Mary Albachten, Director of Finance (Contract)

    As the principal and sole proprietor of Albachten Consulting Services, Mary is a strategic, critical thinking, energetic, results-driven consultant with 15+ years of experience providing financial and operational support to the boards of directors and executive management teams of non-profit organizations, enabling them to fulfill their missions and achieve strategic objectives.

    She holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants, proving competency in financial decision making, reporting, planning, performance, and control. She also holds the Certified Non-Profit Accounting Professional (CNAP) credential sponsored by member firms of The Nonprofit CPAs Alliance.

  • Mercedes Plendl, Senior Director of Programs

    As the Senior Director of Programs at PFund, Mercedes leads the design, implementation and evaluation of grantmaking programs at the foundation.

    Prior to joining PFund Foundation, Mercedes worked for a decade as the Program Officer at Better Way Foundation, supporting indigenous leaders and organizations in America and programming in Tanzania to build brighter futures for children, families and communities through systems change and culturally-affirming programs.

    Mercedes completed her Masters Degree in Public Policy through the Leadership and Nonprofit Management track at the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota. Her studies focused on equity in philanthropy, economic development and systems change. Mercedes also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in German and Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota.

  • Brett Rawlings, Executive Assistant

    As the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, Brett manages key administrative and structural tasks to enable the PFund Foundation team to reach maximum effectiveness.

    Before PFund Foundation, Brett attended Texas Christian University, where he graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre.

    Originally from Kansas City, he has taken his midwestern roots all the way to New York City to pursue his dreams of being an actor, singer, and dancer.

  • Lauren Rimestad, Senior Director of Advancement

    Lauren Rimestad has nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit administration in the Twin Cities and Portland, Oregon. At PFund Foundation, Lauren pairs creativity with careful planning for engaging campaigns that connect people through philanthropy. Lauren completed her bachelor’s degree at the College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

  • Racquel Williams, Programs and Outreach Coordinator

    Racquel Williams is the Program Coordinator at PFund. In her work with the foundation, she manages PFund’s scholarships and grant programs, in addition to providing administrative support. Her previous experience in the Twin Cities nonprofit sector includes working with Girls Are Powerful, the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network, and Literacy Minnesota.

    She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Mass Communications from the University of Minnesota—Twin Cities.

  • Aaron Zimmerman, Executive Director

    Aaron Zimmerman is a career fundraiser and non-profit manager. He has served as PFund Foundation’s Director of Development, as a Major and Planned Giving Officer at Twin Cities PBS (TPT), and as the Director of Development and Communications at Domestic Abuse Project, a Minneapolis-based domestic violence therapy and advocacy program.

    He holds a B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin — Madison and has a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. He wrote his capstone on the history and practice of white supremacy in philanthropy and fundraising in the United States.
