TRANSCEND Campaign receives $60,000 in support from Northwest Area Foundation, F.R. Bigelow Foundation, and Cargill Corporation

Minneapolis, May 16, 2023–PFund Foundation announces the receipt of three new grants in support of the TRANSCEND Campaign. Thanks to $60,000 total in donations from the Northwest Area Foundation ($25,000), the F.R. Bigelow Foundation ($25,000), and Cargill Corporation ($10,000), PFund has now raised over $92,000 in funds to assist gender expansive youth in securing necessary medical care and safe learning environments.
“We have been absolutely humbled by the generosity of our regional queer, nonprofit, and business communities in supporting TRANSCEND,” stated PFund Executive Director Aaron Zimmerman. “What was originally conceived as a modest fundraiser with a $25,000 goal has now exceeded our most optimistic expectations.”
With this additional support, PFund has made four additional TRANSCEND grants:
$2,500 to the Transformation Project for their work supporting transgender and gender expansive youth and their families in South Dakota.
$5,000 to Transforming Families, to support the organization’s mission of bringing together gender expansive youth and their families to support each other in a safe space.
$5,000 to OneIowa for their work supporting the state’s transgender and gender-expansive communities.
$5,000 to RECLAIM to support its work increasing access to mental health care for transgender youth.
With six weeks remaining in PFund’s fiscal year, the foundation has set a new stretch goal of $100,000 for the TRANSCEND campaign by June 30. “With Pride month approaching, we can’t think of a better time for queer people to come together, pool resources, and help some of the most vulnerable members of our community,” Zimmerman noted. “Anyone wanting to support this vital work can donate on our GiveLively webpage.”
