Vials of COVID-19 vaccine

As we enter the hottest months of the year and spend time eating popsicles (and maybe drinking a beer on a dock), the winter months can seem very far away. And during this pandemic, the summer has become a time when many people are also treating the coronavirus as far removed from their daily lives.

However, with the Omicron BA.5 variant currently accounting for over 70% of the viral load in metro wastewater, it’s important to remain vigilant against COVID-19. Ed Yong at The Atlantic has a good article about the current BA.5 wave that is worth a read.

One of the best ways to protect against a severe case of the disease is to stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations—you can learn more about that from the Minnesota Department of Health’s vaccination and booster page.

Also, we want to mention that frontline workers during the pandemic in Minnesota have just over another week and a half to apply for the state’s frontline worker pay program. More information about eligibility and how to apply can be found on the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s website.
