$1 Million Approved for gender affirming care and services in Minnesota

PFund Foundation is thrilled to announce that the Minnesota Legislature voted to appropriate $1 Million to PFund Foundation so it can fund training and education for medical professionals so they can engage in gender affirming care, and support trans and gender expansive services throughout Minnesota. Minnesota became a Trans Refuge State in 2023, and this investment is a continuation of our state’s commitment to trans lives.

This appropriation is the result of dedicated advocacy from elected officials and community advocates. We would like to thank the chief bill authors, Representative Leigh Finke and Senator Erin Maye Quade. We would also like to recognize the support of this bill that was provided by Minnesota House and Senate Leadership, Emma McBride, Melissa Reed & Molly Jansen of Park Street Public,  Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd & Children’s Minnesota, the community of gender affirming care providers, OutFront MN, Family Tree Clinic, and PFund Foundation board and staff.

PFund Foundation will keep the community updated on the progress of this appropriation as the funding becomes available.

While we wait for this state appropriation to become available to implement into grant funding, PFund Foundation is actively working with the community to provide emergency grants to trans and gender expansive serving nonprofits. The TRANSCEND Campaign is a way for people to contribute to critical social services and response for trans and gender expansive people seeking care, safety and inclusion in and around Minnesota.
