Established in 2021, Rainbow Alliance Advocacy became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in late 2022. We began by hosting free, all-ages, family-friendly LGBTQIA2S+ community-equity events designed to be safe, affirming, and most of all, Pride-positive. These early programs centered on community connection and education, helping bridge gaps across generations, lived experiences, and evolving understandings of sexual orientation and gender identity – especially with regard to intersectionality. As community engagement grew, it became clear that there was a strong need for expanded DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) education, both within the broadly defined queer community and, more importantly, the general public. In response (June of 2022), Rainbow Alliance Advocacy launched our first large-scale, family-friendly, educational event, “PRIDEducation” (Pride-Education). Initially, the event featured lived-experience panels, affirming-family support, and access to vital local resources. Over time it grew into something much more impactful, including free DEIB education sessions, live entertainment, and fun educational activities. Above all, the event’s initial success also immediately led to the expansion of our highly specialized professional LGBTQIA2S+ DEIB education and training services, as well as financial and professional development programming, expanded community-equity events, and youth enrichment initiatives. Since inception, Rainbow Alliance Advocacy has remained committed to increasing our positive community impact through thoughtful, data-informed evaluation. Program effectiveness is measured through anonymous feedback collected at each event, allowing us to remain responsive to evolving community needs – particularly amid an unpredictable and volatile political climate. This approach ensures that resources are directed where they are most needed, whether that means prioritizing core programming or strategically expanding services to meet emerging needs.
