Dark Muse Performing Arts will celebrate its 6th anniversary this summer, along with the 6th memorial of George Floyd. Founded in the days after George Floyd’s murder in Minneapolis, MN, our first radical care experience was a peaceful protest and performance on a vacant lot in downtown Minneapolis. In 2020, we saw communities of neighbors come together across the Twin Cities and the world to stand up for each other. We are seeing the same communal care and support in Minneapolis today and our programs/offerings, which intersect art and healing, are needed even more in 2026 than when we were first founded 6 years ago. Our programming is designed to engage people of all ages and identities in meaningful artistic experiences, centering bold storytelling and radical care. Past programming highlights include: Drag Story Hour uplifting queer and trans joy for families and children; live poetry readings from local QTBIPOC writers; music and dance performances that celebrate cultural heritage and community resilience; interactive craft workshops where participants can make art together, fostering connection across generations. We believe the arts can be both healing and unifying.
