Become a PFund grant reviewer

PFund grants are by and for the LGBTQ+ community.

Every year, a group of volunteers reviews applications and awards grants to LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations from across the Upper Midwest.

  • Currently, PFund has three grant programs that use a community review panel to make funding recommendations. The PRISM Fund, the Equity Fund, and the Bi+ Fund all award funds based on community reviewer recommendations.

  • All community review panelists receive mandatory training in avoiding conflicts of interest and implicit biases, how PFund’s grant selection process works, and how to use Submittable to review and rank grant applications applications.

  • Once PFund selects reviewers and they have received their required training, panelists set up a Submittable account, read and rank all application materials, and meet virtually as a group to rank applicants and recommend to the PFund board who should receive funding. PFund staff assist reviewers at all stages of the process.

  • The PFund Board of Directors awards grants from the Equity Fund, PRISM Fund, and Bi+ Fund based upon the recommendations of community review panels.

  • PFund grant reviewers typically dedicate 8 to 10 hours of time to serving as a panelist. Panelists usually spend four hours in virtual training and grant reviewer meetings, plus four to six hours reading and ranking grant applications in Submittable.
