Review Grants
PFund grants are by and for the LGBTQ+ community.
Community review process is at the heart of PFund’s grantmaking, ensuring that every funding decision is guided by community voices. Each year, groups of LGBTQ+ and allied volunteers from the Upper Midwest review applications and contribute to PFund’s grantmaking outcomes for LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations from across the Upper Midwest. If you’re ready to give back, join us as a community reviewer!

How It Works
1
Training
A 1-hour virtual training is provided on how PFund’s grant selection process works and how to use Submittable (our online grant system) to review and rank grant applications. Community reviewers also receive training in avoiding conflicts of interest and mitigating implicit biases in application review.
2
Reviewing
Once community reviewers have received their required training, they set up a Submittable account, read and score all application materials using provided rubric. Once scores are submitted reviewers meet virtually as a group to discuss applications and recommendations for awards. PFund staff assist reviewers at all stages of the process.
3
Expected Time Commitment
PFund grant reviewers typically dedicate 8 to 10 hours of time to serving as a panelist. Panelists usually spend four hours in training and grant reviewer meetings, plus four to six hours reading and ranking grant applications in Submittable.
Please note: you must be 18 years or older to be a community reviewer with PFund.
