Nibi-Clear

Nibi-Clear logo

Nibi-Clear provides culturally respectful, science-based water quality testing for tribal governments and Indigenous communities. Founded by a Bay Mills Indian Community member with expertise in nuclear engineering, Indigenous law and policy, and medical physics, Nibi-Clear uses neutron activation analysis to detect a wide range of contaminants at very low levels, including risks often missed by standard testing. Since 2017, Nibi-Clear has supported seven tribal governments with actionable water quality data, including early detection that helped identify copper, petroleum, and lead contamination and support environmental cleanup efforts. Grant support would help Nibi-Clear scale operations, expand outreach, and serve more tribal nations while upholding tribal data sovereignty and community ownership of results.
