My business Black and Associates Accounting focuses on serving the BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ community when it pertains to business knowledge, financial literacy, and financial services. We provide tax preparation, accounting, advisory, and tax planning on a sliding scale for BIPOC LGBTQ+ people. We are committed to servicing these communities so that they feel equipped to compete in the fast-growing business world. The inspiration behind starting my business was because growing up a part of these communities made me see that there was a lack of support in becoming financially free. I was a Black person and I was also transgender. This set me back because I didn’t have the financial tools to be free of debt, managing debt etc. Also being transgender it came with a lot of negative connotations which made it less likely for people to offer a space to learn. From there I got my bachelors degree and worked in the corporate world so that I could learn and when I felt equipped started my business so that I could prevent others from learning the hard way like I did.
