Outreach, Inc. -- our legal name. Doing business as OutReach LGBTQ+ Community Center logo

Outreach, Inc. was formed in 1998 as a merger between two older LGBTQ+ organizations – Madison Gay Lesbian Resource Center (MGLRC) and The United. MGLRC was incorporated in 1973, and provided some of the core programs we still offer – social and support groups, information and referral and drop in space, peer counseling, and a lending library. Our LGBTQ+ center was among the first in the Midwest. Our Madison Area Transgender Association and LGBTQ 50+ Alliance programs are both more than 25 years old. While the early iterations of our center had one room and one paid staff person, OutReach has grown steadily over the past 53 years, and now has a 10,000 square foot center with 16 staff and budget approaching $2 million. We have added financial and case management support for housing insecure clients, an active Community Pantry, a Harm Reduction program including HIV and STD prevention services, opioid prevention, substance abuse and recovery programs, homeless services for youth 17 to 24, and several events including our large Magic Pride Festival to our original programs.
