Heart of Winona was born on April 29th of 2024 from a simple truth we heard over and over again: LGBTQIA+ people in our community needed a place where they could show up fully as themselves and be met with love, safety, and belonging. What began as a few volunteers creating space for connection quickly grew into a movement of care, monthly events, support gatherings, Pride celebrations, and everyday moments where people finally felt seen. In 2025, we became an independent nonprofit, rooted in the belief that everyone deserves community, and committed to building a Winona where all of us can thrive.
