Since 2017, our organization has delivered comprehensive, culturally responsive health education and access to care for transgender and LGBTQ+ communities. Our programs provide navigation and enrollment support for health insurance through MNsure, facilitated access to mental health services through trusted referral partners, and free, confidential HIV and STD testing through our Testing and Tea Campaign. The Testing and Tea Campaign creates a safe, affirming space where transgender and LGBTQ+ community members receive education on healthy intimacy, sexual wellness, and evidence-based strategies to prevent the transmission of HIV and sexually transmitted infections. In addition to improving access to testing, the program reduces stigma, increases health literacy, and encourages ongoing engagement in preventive care. Beyond direct health services, our programming functions as an education and leadership development space. Participants receive education on reproductive and sexual health and are supported in building the skills needed to advocate for themselves within healthcare, social service, and institutional settings that may lack cultural competency in caring for transgender and LGBTQ+ individuals. We also connect community members to educational supports, workforce development opportunities, and professional training programs that promote economic stability and long-term well-being within the LGBTQ+ community. Through this holistic approach, we address both immediate health needs and the broader structural barriers that impact health equity.
