Nonprofit Grants
PFund provides grants to LGBTQ+ serving nonprofits across the Upper Midwest with flexible funding designed to help organizations grow and thrive.
PFund grants support core programs, community gatherings, and emergency response funding. PFund offers multiple grant pathways to support the organizations doing this vital work. Applications go through our community review process and awards are distributed in March each year.

Pfund offers three types of grants for Nonprofits:

Community Grants
PFund Community Grants are for LGBTQ+ serving nonprofits in the Upper Midwest. These grants range from $1,000-$20,000+ and include organizational membership to the PFund Leadership Institute, a monthly cohort based learning and networking opportunity. Applications open on September 1, 2026 and are due by 5pm central on November 4, 2026.
Applications go through the community review process and awards will be distributed in March 2027.
To apply for a pfund community grant, organizations must:
- Align with PFund’s Mission and Vision.
- Primarily serve LGBTQ+ populations in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and/or the Native Nations therein.
- Been in operation at least 1-year.
- Be registered as 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the IRS, or be fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Event Sponsorship
PFund offers $250-$1,000 event sponsorship grants for events, gatherings, conferences, and convenings serving LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. Sponsorship applications are open year round. Applications are reviewed on the first business day of the month and payments distributed by the end of the month. Organizations can only receive one sponsorship grant per calendar year and must apply 60-days before the event.
PFund does not provide funding for events that have already passed. PFund Foundation does not sponsor events held outside its five state service region, fundraisers hosted by an organization on behalf of a different organization, or events for political candidates or campaigns.
To apply for event sponsorship, organizations must:
- Primarily serve LGBTQ+ populations in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and/or the Native Nations therein.
- Been in operation at least 1-year.
- Be registered as 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the IRS. Informal groups with a nonprofit organization serving as a fiscal sponsor are also eligible to apply.
- Be applying for an event that is focused on the LGBTQ+ community.

Emergency Grants
PFund distributes rapid-response emergency grants for LGBTQ+ organizations and communities impacted by emergent or ongoing crises. PFund does not currently have any emergency grants available.

- The Readiness and Resilience Fund
The Readiness and Resilience fund was created during the pandemic as a successor to the foundation’s COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund. The fund provided community leaders, board members, and other stakeholders with the flexibility and agility to support queer communities facing and responding to crises. - ReVITALization Fund
The ReVITALization Fund was created in response to the gap in services left by the unexpected closing of Rainbow Health. - COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund
The COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund was created to help organizations quickly respond to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
