We stand in solidarity with the Madison, WI community as they continue to navigate the aftermath of the police killing of Corey Ruiz on July 22.
PFund Foundation believes that our philanthropic work should be complimentary to the mutual aid and care we as neighbors provide to each other, supporting existing frameworks LGBTQ+ organizations and community members in the Upper Midwest have created over years of resisting oppression. In alignment with our mission and beliefs, PFund provided an emergency response grant of $2,500 to Freedom Inc. (@freedominc), a Queer, Feminist organization working in Black and Southeast Asian communities to end interpersonal and state violence.
Situated in Dane County, WI, Freedom Inc. has spent the past 23 years organizing around issues of racial, profiling, welfare reform, and gender justice, creating specific programs focused on the needs of elders, refugees, immigrants, differently abled, and homeless people in their Black and Southeast Asian communities.
As our communities navigate compounding struggles and societal horrors, the only constant is our ability to show up for each other with our humanity intact, however we can. We keep us safe.
