George Hoagland, Board of Directors

George first learned about PFund Foundation by writing letters of recommendation for students in cultural and gender studies courses, and went on to become a volunteer for community review during the scholarship process. An invitation to join the board in 2016 has been followed with an even greater commitment to PFund Foundation’s mission and vision, especially in regard to the current elevated priorities.

As an androgynous, temporarily able-bodied, African American person with a working-class perspective on everything from education to food security to the appropriate number of accessories, they are constantly looking for more ways to put their expensive Ph.D. in comparative literature to work. When not teaching, writing, or giving conference talks, George can usually be found looking for snacks or celebrating community (or both).
